OPEN ENROLLMENT BENEFITS & HEALTH EVENT
We’re excited to announce our upcoming Open Enrollment Benefits & Health Fair, designed to help you learn more about the benefits available to you and your family for the upcoming plan year.

Flexible Spending Account - Medical
You can enroll in the Flexible Spending Account to assist with paying for copays, out-of-pocket medical expenses, prescriptions and much more.
For the 2026-2027 benefit year...
- Minimum contributions are $120 per year (Estimated $5 per pay period)
- Maximum of $3400 (Estimated $137.50 per pay period).
- Carry over up to $680 to the next benefit year, if you re-enroll.
Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account
Eligible expenses include Before and after school care, Preschools, and Day camps.
For the 2026-2027 benefit year...
- Minimum contributions are $120 per year (Estimated $5 per pay period)
- Maximum of $7500 (Estimated $312.50 per pay period).
- The total annual amount you contribute is divided up between 24 pay periods. For example, if you contribute to your dependent care $2400 annual, that would be $100 per pay period.
2026-2027 FSA & Dependent Care Enrollment Form
If you were enrolled in FSA and/or Dependent Care during the 2025-2026 Benefit year, you MUST reenroll if you want this benefit to continue.

Use the Open Enrollment Checklist to ensure you have completed all the enrollments, updates, and changes that you want to make during this time. Remember the deadline for Open Enrollment is Monday, April 27, 2026!
☐ Enroll or re-enroll in the Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
☐ Enroll or make changes to Health and Dental Insurance
☐ Update Beneficiary (only if changes need to be made)
Beneficiaries must be updated online through VRS. Visit their website.
NOTE: Page one of the VRS form updates VRS/Securian basic life insurance. Page two needs to be completed only if you have or will be enrolling in Optional Life Insurance. Page three is for your retirement.
☐ Add any optional benefits (see information below)
☐ Send all completed and signed forms to HR for processing. Email documents to AskHR@co.accomack.va.us. Outside agencies, please provide your completed documents to your agencies benefit contact.

WELLNESS
As your employer, we want to say Thank You for taking care of yourself. When you see your provider for your annual wellness visit, provide Human Resources with your work note for that reason. As a Thank You, you will receive 2 hours of paid leave just for having your annual wellness visit. This is only available once annually.
We have partnered with Anthem to provide additional rewards for taking care of yourself. Employees can earn up to $200 in rewards each plan year. You can enroll, track, earn, redeem your rewards by using the Sydney App or on the Anthem website.
OPTIONAL LIFE INSURANCE (VRS & SECURIAN)
The County of Accomack provides life insurance to all full-time employees, at no cost, through Securian and VRS. The basic life insurance pays two (2) times your salary. As an employee you have the option to purchase additional life insurance on yourself, as well as, your spouse and/or child(ren). Should you want to purchase additional life insurance during the 2026 open enrollment period, you will need to complete the enrollment application and return the paperwork to your Human Resources Department. Contact Human Resources for a quote.

Open enrollment is a good time to ensure your beneficiaries are up-to-date. Beneficiaries must be updated online through the VRS website/MyVRS. If you have set up your VRS online account, log in and make your changes. If you do not have an account with VRS, visit the VRS website and create your account today.
Hybrid members can also increase their contributions online at www.varetire.org. Any changes in contributions go into effect on a quarterly basis. The first quarter has ended, therefore any changes that you make between March 15th and May 14th, would go into effect June 2024.
Whether you are in Plan 1, Plan 2 or a Hybrid member, you can update your beneficiary anytime. Open Enrollment is a good time to ensure you have your documents up-to-date.

All Accomack County employees have access to Voluntary Benefits with AFLAC.
Our Representative, Charles Bono, is able to go over all the products and services that are available to employees. AFLAC pays cash directly to you. SICK LEAVE BANK
The sick leave bank is a benefit for full-time employees. By being a part of the sick leave bank, you could potentially receive up to 45 days of additional paid leave if you or a family member become ill and you need to take extended time off from work. The Sick Leave Bank can be accessed after 15 days and after you have exhausted your accrued leave. You can review the Sick Leave Bank policy here, click on section 5, and then policy number 502.
If you would like to become a member of the sick leave bank, now is the time to join! Complete the Sick Leave Bank Enrollment form and return it to the Human Resources Department for processing.
