Property Evaluator I – Real Estate Assessor’s Office

The Accomack County Real Estate Assessor’s Office is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team as a Property Evaluator. This full-time position plays a vital role in supporting the County’s property assessment process.

Position Overview

The Property Evaluator is responsible for identifying, locating, evaluating, and appraising real property within the County for tax purposes. Work involves reviewing building permits, assessment appeals, and comparable sales to determine accurate property valuations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing technical appraisal work by measuring, calculating, and evaluating new construction
  • Conducting site visits for permits, inspections, and appeals
  • Identifying and locating real property using available mapping and record systems
  • Maintaining accurate records and supporting fair and equitable property assessments

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Vocational or technical training in real estate, real estate law, or business
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience and/or training in real estate, market analysis, or real estate law
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Additional Requirements

  • Successful completion of a background check and pre-employment drug screening is required prior to employment.
